Thailand - A crow is able

Here I am again at the airport. Unfortunately, Air Canada will be my carrier. I try to avoid them, but it's not always possible.

At the boarding gate, the lady walks around with her template to ensure that our carry-on is not too big. Luckily for me, I'm traveling lighter and lighter. This year, my luggage only weighs 7 kg. My companion's is slightly heavier... 8 kg.

In addition, the dimensions of our luggage are well below the maximum allowed so everything is fine... until the representative tries to insert her template around our bags. And there, it doesn't work. She tries to insert it vertically... on a bag placed horizontally. Immediately, she begins her speech to inform us that the bag must be registered... until my companion turns the bag so that it is vertical and suggests that she insert her template again. Miracle..., the bag is much smaller than the template. Who would have thought that Air Canada agents were less intelligent than a crow...

On the plane... it continues. The template used by the agent was not the right one. Thus, several passengers, unable to put their baggage in the overhead compartment or under the seat, have to go back through the sea of passengers to check in baggage which nevertheless fit the famous template.

Finally, we leave for Montreal.

And there, Air Canada continues to live up to its bad reputation. It should be noted that in 2023, they ranked last in terms of punctuality among all major air carriers in North America.

So we are on the runway... moving faster and faster and... we slow down to turn right and park near a hangar. It looks like a circuit breaker is causing problems... I have an idea like that. Perhaps Air Canada could maintain its planes before boarding its passengers.

An hour and twenty minutes later we finally take off for the Montreal-Tokyo flight... which will last 14 hours.

As I approach Tokyo, I watch the sun set in the land of the rising sun…

I feel a certain nostalgia thinking about the people I love who are now far from me for the next few months.

ANA is more than candy

For my last flight segment, I have the pleasure of using the services of ANA (All Nippon Airways). Departure on time, flight attendants with easy smiles, toilets cleaned from top to bottom several times during the 7-hour flight... When I think that those on the Montreal-Tokyo Air Canada flight were not cleaned only once in 14 hours of flight.

In those of ANA, there is even a bidet, with lukewarm water, incorporated into each toilet. What more could you ask for? When you know the importance I attach to clean toilets, you understand my pleasure in traveling with this company.

Bangkok, finally!

After 30 hours of travel, three planes, two taxis, and searching for my hotel in a maze of dark alleys so narrow that a car won't fit, I finally arrive in my room. The real journey begins tomorrow and I can’t wait to discover Thailand better.
